This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Information Technology Management (INFOSEC) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Telework Eligible as determined by the Agency's Policy. This is not a Virtual/Remote position.

Duties

Serve as a senior Information Technology (IT) Specialist responsible for systems administration of a small network enclave infrastructure such as (firewall, Windows and Linux servers and desktops, Active Directory, and WSUS. Execute complex IT systems integration, installations, configuration, and administration on the Activity’s network. Administer creation of user accounts and maintains configuration management control records and access to data storage, space allocation, and device usage for authorized users of Activity information systems. Perform security and enterprise systems event analysis to identify and mitigate network security breaches, compliance deviations, and malware outbreaks. Respond to system failures caused by software and hardware deficiencies Provide support for new/emerging technologies associated with the NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and/or DREN systems Provide Cyber Security/information systems security for servers and a variety of data communication and computing devices Perform diagnostic testing and isolate the sources of problems using various analysis techniques.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One year/probationary period may be required.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management- Practitioner certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.
  • Employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime which may include evenings and weekends
  • Requires Information Assurance Technical Level II certification or the incumbent must be able to obtain certification within six (6) months of appointment and maintained thereafter
  • This position requires you to posses a Secret security clearance and the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 50% of the time.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre- Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Defense Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF) position. Required to meet the DoDI 8140.02 cyberspace work role requirements for assigned cyberspace work roles at the assigned proficiency level within the timeframes specified in DoD Manual 8140.03

Basic Requirements IT Specialist GS-2210-12 IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below, based on the grade-level required, at this position being filled. (1)Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others. (2)Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3).Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4).Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience- One year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band level in the Federal Service which includes work that involves 1) Verifying system integrity complies with pertinent security regulations; AND 2) Performing server systems administration duties (e.g., Windows Server supported versions) on physical and virtual servers in blade server environments; AND 3) Making recommendations to correct computer hardware and software deficiencies.; AND 4) Procuring computer hardware, software systems/programs and necessary items to resolve system failures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11].
