THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5303P01 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Duties

As a AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST (TITLE 5), GS-0301-9, you will serve as the family readiness and support services representative at an ANG Wing and coordinate concurrently with the Force Support Squadron Commander/Human Resource Officer (Director of Personnel (DP)) at each wing, Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST) Family Program Director, NGB Family Programs Office, and US Air Force/Major Command (MAJCOM) Family Readiness Directors. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Coordinate information for seminars, conferences, and orientation workshops as appropriate for family members and volunteers. Conduct briefings and training for family members and volunteers. Develop monthly or quarterly unit Family Readiness newsletters and solicit articles for the wing, state, and national family newsletters. Provide advice and assistance to the unit leadership in identifying and addressing family issues and demographic trends, which impact mission readiness and retention. Identify Wing family needs and concerns and present appropriate plans, and recommendations to facilitate family readiness and support decisions. Ensure all recommendations are in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies, and regulations. Provide plans for an efficient resource management program and maximum support of service delivery to include resource center (discovery center), equipment, funding, tracking, and computerized systems - AFFIRST, etc. Provide advice and assistance to accommodate family needs during full or partial unit mobilizations and to alleviate concern of unit members about family welfare in the event of mobilization. Provide plans that maximize readiness and support resources for unit family member assistance during day-to-day operations and especially for Aerospace Expeditionary Force (AEF) deployments and full or partial unit mobilizations. Identify service member and family issues that require exploration, development, and resolutions, and determine appropriate methods and resources. Use formal and informal needs assessment to ensure long term proactive/reactive programs are available. Analyze ongoing family Wing/GSU services evaluation program and provide recommendations to resolve problems of overlap, duplication, or conflict and to ensure effective goals and objectives are accomplished.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes 12 months experience, education or training in providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled; a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management; and experience developing administrative procedures. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-09 level requirements.
