About the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Chief of Staff in all matters involving interpretation, implementation, formulation, and evaluation of administrative policies and procedures relating to the direction, operations and management of SDDC.

Duties

Provide administrative program direction to various subordinate commanders, directors and their staffs. Perform the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities for assigned areas. Give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Develop or direct the development of new or changed operating procedures and/or policies. Coordinate and facilitate the flow of information between the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Staff, subordinate Units, and higher Headquarters. Interview candidates for positions, recommending appointments, promotions or reassignments. Conduct major analytical and implementation efforts to produce policies and regulations. Perform vulnerability assessments and ensure that adequate internal control systems are developed and operative so that government resources are efficiently and effectively managed. Attend and organize meetings, conferences, and seminars to collate tasking and/or questions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires pre-employment Confidential financial disclosure, OGE-450, and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position may be required to perform an unusual tour of duty (e.g., evenings, weekends) in connection with stated duties.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
