This position is part of the Chief of Staff, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Manages subordinates and representatives of GPO business units to execute social media campaigns and day to day activities such as managing and creating content in social networking sites.
Collaborates with internal and external sources to strategize and implement social media campaigns and press releases on behalf of the GPO, writes concise, factual press releases that will distribute to the news, media, and public.
Organizes and oversees events for the Agency. Works with other agencies, organizations, and a variety of staff to bring all elements together in achieving successful outcomes for events.
Makes recommendations to senior leaders or web-based strategies and tactics to inform the general public pertaining to GPOs mission.
Advises and provides recommendations to the chief communications officer that social media content meets standards, policy, and legal requirements and on other public relations opportunities for GPO.
Maximizes the effective use of photography in public relations campaigns and projects.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
- Selectee must undergo a background investigations for a public trust clearance
- Confidential Financial Disclosure Report may be required.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess the following experience at the PG-13 or equivalent grade level: Specialized experience is defined as: Collaborate with internal and external sources to strategize and implement social media campaigns and press releases; Provide recommendations to senior leaders concerning the requirements or concerns of social media content; Gather and evaluate complex data for social media posting or campaigns; Analyze social media analytics data and user feedback to understand user trends.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
