Duties
Provides input to the PAO in overseeing, the development of web communications products, with final authority for content and customer serviceability.
As part of the PA planning process, identifies issues involving misinformed or uninformed publics and designs and implements strategic traditional and digital products to eliminate misunderstanding.
Provides input to the PAO in overseeing the district command information program, developing and managing appropriate digital and traditional systems for keeping employees situationally aware and informed.
Manages the district's media relations program to include traditional and digital media and provides media training to internal audiences and subject matter experts.
Produces public information materials to include brochures, posters and information graphics for communication purposes.
Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of various program such as Engineer Week, Open House, and guided tours for VIPs and civilian visitors.
Develops messages and participates in public engagement and event planning and execution.
Researches and writes stories meant for internal and external audiences following journalistic principles and style and using AP Stylebook rules.
Assists in developing and mentoring junior Public Affairs team members.
Collects and prepares analytics to evaluate program impacts.
Manages creative campaign products for use in digital and print platforms.
Writes speeches and remarks for various leadership and prepares ghost notes for the Commander for various internal and external audiences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may have a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Lifting will not exceed 25 pounds repetitively for section equipment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience in producing public, internal and visual information content for print, and internet and video products; AND 2) Experience using various graphic design tools and coordinating production. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
