About the Position: This is an Administrative Support Assistant position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Engineering Division.
Duties
Serve as the principal clerical and administrative support position for a Section Chief, coordinating clerical and day to day administrative support activities, which are typically required to accomplish the work of the organization
Utilize a Financial Management System to process requests and payment for items of cost for the assigned sections.
Receive calls, greets visitors, and directs to staff members only those contacts needing their attention or action.
Update project status reports (verifying Planning project's current status), preparing draft and final document for supervisor's approval (i.e., daily/weekly verification, rewrite, scheduling changes, etc.).
Coordinate the completion of personnel actions and timekeeping.
Provide assistance on the preparation, compiling, editing, and analyzing training requests, making recommendations and finalizing approved program.
Requirements

- Incumbent may be required to travel/perform Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 5%.

Specialized Experience for GS-05:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing automated systems to prepare documents or correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-06:
One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing automated systems to prepare documents or correspondence; AND 2) Compiling financial data or reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
