This position is located at Departmental Offices, Office of the Deputy Sec, Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (ODEIA), Office as assigned. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Staff Assistant and scheduling coordinator within the office, providing a full range of support and performing special assignments.

Duties

As a Staff Assistant, you will: Develop and coordinate responses to requests for administrative, technical, or programmatic information. Screen incoming memoranda and calls, using personal initiative and sound judgment, alerts the Director and/or senior staff to items requiring immediate attention. Serve as a point of contact for the Office and with other offices within Treasury headquarters and the bureaus. Perform a variety of independent analysis, reviews, and makes decisions concerning potentially conflicting and competing demands on the Director's scheduled meetings, interviews, conferences, speeches, etc. based on keen judgment, knowledge of office programs and projects, staff responsibilities and assignments, and overall office workload.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Devising and installing procedures and office practices affecting subordinate organizations; AND Analyzing competing demands to determine the priority of the requests to be accomplished factoring in issues such as program or project requirements, staff abilities and assignments and justifying the recommendation/decision to senior-level officials; AND Arranging the schedule of multiple executive level officials. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M, if related. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resumé. TIME-IN-GRADE: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
