About the Position: Serves as a Regional Technical Specialist (RTS)- Hydraulic and Hydrologic (H&H) Climate Adaptation & Resilience, with emphasis on applying statistical hydrology and/or risk and other Civil Works engineering projects. The RTS duties will be performed at least 25% of the time. If selected from within MVD, these duties will be added to your existing Position description.
This position can be located at one of the 6 MVD District Offices.
Duties
Provides Hydraulic and Hydrologic quality control by serving on regional Independent Technical Review Teams for complex projects produced by the six MVD districts.
Contributes to the development of USACE guidelines, regulations, and policies within the Hydraulic and Hydrologic Community of Practice.
Develops climate preparedness and resilience criteria and guidance and reviews report for adequacy.
Provides expert consultation, advice and training to organization on matters associated with the climate preparedness and resilience.
Communicates with key officials to articulate the importance and broad implications of Climate Preparedness and Resilience that overall impact global changes, livelihood and national security.
Facilitates peer-to-peer help in problem solving, developing and verifying best practices, fostering innovation, and leading Regional Technical Forums.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Performing full range hydrologic and hydraulic engineering studies for flood risk reduction, dam and levee safety, floodplain management, ecosystem restoration, bank stabilization, and/or river channelization; Coordinating and/or collaborating with others to ensure project completion/success; and Communicating with a variety of customers or stakeholders by developing, writing and/or executing technical reports and professional presentations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????12).
