This position is located in the Office of Military Commissions (OMC), Department of Defense (DoD). The incumbent serves as the Senior Defense Travel Administrator within the Office of Military Commissions. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative duties that support the integrity of data contained in the Defense Travel System (DTS), as well as other travel-related duties.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Coordinates with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Office in Indianapolis, as needed, to coordinate information and resolve problems. Maintains a database of user information and controls user access to Privacy Act information and travel documents. Establishes and manages a training program for organizational Defense Travel Administrators, as well as authorizing officials/certifying officials. Maintains updates to the Defense Travel System database when changes occur due to personnel actions. Ensures travel orders are in compliance with the joint federal travel regulations and the joint travel regulations.

  • The incumbent of this position must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/overtime
  • Some travel to/from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and other locations is required
  • Relocation incentive may be authorized in accordance with regulatory requirements

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) Interpreting transportation regulations governing entitlements and documentation requirements to ensure program compliance; 2) Advising employees on travel procedures, restrictions, and allowances; 3) Implementing procedures and/or coordinating changes to the organization's travel program; and 4) Analyzing business process to improve procedures and resolve problems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
