You will serve as an Security Specialist at the GG-12 grade level responsible for providing the full spectrum of security guidance, services, and technical advice in a wide range of security functional areas.

Duties

You will make decisions and initiate actions involving interpreting policy for the SCI Physical Security Program for the DON SCI community. You will interpret and provide technical advice and guidance to SSO Navy customers to meet the physical security standards for the construction and protection of classified spaces. You will participate in Security Assist Visits (SAVs), Annual and Periodic SCIF Inspections (PSIs) for the purpose of accreditation and re-validating IC policy implementation and compliance. You will disseminate new guidance via various methods across the enterprise. You will provide support with the managing, operating, and administering the execution, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security program regarding SCI facility (SCIF) operations.

Requirements

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may be subject to polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders, bend, twist and crawl along floor ways and under deck plates and equipment.
  • Must Achieve Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SPEC) and Certified SCIF Inspector Certification within Two Years of Employment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: 1) Researching and implementing SCI security policies and assessing the security posture of the Command and/or supported DoD elements and providing technical advice and assistance regarding the establishment of comprehensive SCI security programs; 2) Conducting SCI security administrative duties to include providing support in the execution of Preliminary Inquiry Reports of security violations, processing Periodic Reviews (PRs), message traffic handling, E-Qip and DISS/JCAVS database management; 3) Preparing and disseminating instructional material and products to increase security awareness and to reinforce compliance with SCI security policy; 4) Conducting on-site security assistance visits (SAV) and inspections for compliance with applicable security standards, regulations and operating procedures, and to ensure DoD equities are met.
