You will serve as a PAINTER INSPECTOR LEADER in the Production Lines Division, MRO Production Department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will check viscosity of coating materials and thickness of coatings on surface. You will formulate alternatives or solutions to issues based on analysis of painting production problems. You will use painting equipment (e.g., spray guns, spray tanks, line marking machines, heat guns) when painting or coating surfaces. You will plan and schedule ongoing painter production-oriented work on a quarterly and annual basis, or direct assignments of similar duration.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision such as: 1) Assigning tasks to shop personnel and checking work in progress to assure procedures, methods, and practices are consistent with established policy and that standards are met; 2) Ensuring that all subordinates are trained with the proper aircraft painter knowledge and processes in order to do desired tasks; 3) Determining the methods, techniques, devices, and materials that are best suited to the surface finish required to meet specific thickness and levels; 4) Troubleshooting and experimenting with painting processes to ensure that the desired result is achieved; 5) Providing information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. 6) Training subordinates and answering workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
