The Administrative Specialist position is located in the Department of Program Services (DPS), Judicial Services Office (JSO), Judicial Programs Division. The JSO provides support, services, and programs to address the needs and concerns of federal judges-Article III (court of appeals, district, and Court of International Trade), territorial district court, Court of Federal Claims, bankruptcy, magistrate, and their staffs.

Duties

This position will report to the Judicial Programs Division Chief in the Judicial Services Office (JSO). The JSO is seeking a self-motivated Administrative Specialist in the Judicial Programs Division to join its team. The JSO serves as a liaison, consultant, advocate, and resource on matters that affect judges within the Administrative Office (AO) and with the Federal Judicial Center (FJC), the U.S. Sentencing Commission (USSC), executive and legislative branches of the federal government, the public, and others. The incumbent will provide staff support to the Judicial Conference Committee on International Relations (IJRC) and provide high-level administrative support to Committee staff in the coordination of requests for judges to conduct international rule of law work. The ideal candidate must possess excellent judgment and strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team with colleagues and external stakeholders. The duties of this position may include, but are not limited to: Communicating and coordinating with Committee partners on requests for judges to participate in international rule of law work aboard, the AO, or the federal courts. Communicating and preparing judges to undertake international rule of law work. Assisting with maintaining international rule of law activity data base. Coordinating with the Congressional Office of International Leadership (COIL) on their international programming scheduled at the AO and the federal courts. Assisting with writing Committee reports and meeting minutes. Participating in monthly interagency calls with Committee partners and collating program notes. Assisting with planning IJRC meetings. Coordinating with FJC international staff on various joint initiatives.

Qualifications

Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience providing high level administrative support to staff; and preparing and assisting with writing reports and meeting minutes.
