This position is located in the Employment Unit, Labor, Employment & Administration Section. The Employment Unit provides legal advice and counsel to the Corporation’s divisions and management officials on legal issues related to internal corporate policy matters and represents the Corporation’s interest in matters filed in Federal District Court. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill identical vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here. CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 12 level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience practicing law in the areas of employee relations, and personnel and employment law. CG-14: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 13 level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience practicing law in the areas of employee relations, and personnel and employment law, including providing advice and counsel to senior management officials on cases in the equal employment opportunity (EEO) and employee relations areas, and defending management decisions in administrative litigation. This position has a positive education requirement, transcripts must be provided showing degree conferred. Education: All attorney and law clerk trainee positions have a minimum requirement of completing a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from an accredited school (accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). Bar Membership: All attorney positions require current active bar membership (hold active license to practice law). Admission to the bar of any State, territory, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, District of Columbia, or Federal Court is acceptable. Employees must maintain active bar membership while employed as an attorney with the FDIC. Active Bar membership must be verified prior to appointment.
