This position is located within the Wind River Service Unit, Indian Health Service at Fort Washakie, WY in the Health Information Management Department. The purpose of this position is to perform technical work involving processing and maintaining medical records for compliance with regulatory requirements.
Duties
Incumbent assembles patient's medical record and ensures the medical record is complete and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Receive and processes Release of Information request within a strict time frame.
Maintaining, Indexing and upload into VistA Imaging in Electronic Health Record clinical care documents
Reviews and assist in updating patient demographics accurately
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level OR 4 years above high school. Examples of specialized experience: Assembles medical hard charts in proper sequence ensuring all necessary form and documents are present. Scans documents into the electronic health record (EHR). Prepares correspondence for fax, mail, or personal pick up. Analyzes and audits protected health information in paper and electronic health records system form for ambulatory patient records.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
