This position is located at MEDVAMC a complex level 1A facility. The incumbent functions as a Supervisor in the Preventive Maintenance (PM) section within the Facilities Management Service Line. Through subordinates, the incumbent is responsible for the overall operations of PM, and repairs of building service equipment.

Duties

Utilizes skill and knowledge in all matters pertaining to Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, A/C Equipment Operators, and Electronic Industrial Controls Makes safety inspections and quality assurance checks of all equipment and functions under his/her supervision and records the results of the inspections. Oversees that a reliable preventive maintenance program is maintained on all equipment at all times to minimize unscheduled equipment and systems down time. Predicts short term utility fluctuations and anticipates utility operations accordingly. Completes inspections, job site visits, and ensures corrective actions are taken in all the areas of responsibility of his/her sections. Promotes and administers a variety of management programs for the units supervised such as safety, cost reduction, incentive awards, beneficial suggestion, and quality assurance with policies and procedures established by medical center management and the Facilities Management Service Line. Supports affirmative action plans, bonds, and CDC programs and adheres to all provisions of the Equal Opportunity Program in accordance with OPM and VA regulations and established medical center guidelines. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/07/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be physically and mentally alert at all times. The position requires lifting, carrying, pulling/pushing and steading adjustments or repairs and may require kneeling, bending, squatting, reaching over, under, and into equipment while cramped or in awkward positions. He/she works off ladders, scaffolds and platforms and must be able to carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Incumbent shall wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as but not limited to: earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, safety shoes and standard respirator, etc., when required.
