The purpose of this position is to apply knowledge and mastery of business process improvement and process design and development concepts to develop, establish, sustain, and lead a continuous improvement-oriented environment within an organization.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a Statistician generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop models, trend analysis, and mathematical formulations, performance measurement, and prepare data presentation. Apply knowledge, process design and development concepts to develop, establish, and lead a continuous improvement-oriented environment within the organization. Interpret the statistical significance of project findings. Determine appropriate statistical procedures for analysis of data and accomplish its implementation.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Statistician at (GS-1530-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). Basic Requirement: I have a degree that includes 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing. OR I have a combination of education and experience-courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance. Specialized Experience for GS-14: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as advising, planning, developing and conducting research of statistical data analysis to resolve a variety of issues for the organization. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 03/11/2024. Education

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
