You will serve as a NUCLEAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS INSPECTOR (SHIPS) in the NUCLEAR INSPECTION DIVISION, QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICE of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties
You will perform electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical inspections, in-process, product pre-test, test inspections, certification and acceptance of completed work reviews on nuclear reactor plant, refueling and overhaul work.
You will maintain records of inspections performed, results of these inspections, and corrective action taken in accordance with local directives.
You will perform surveillances of ongoing or completed work to ensure compliance with all applicable directives.
You will ensure that during the performance of your duties, due consideration is given to the safety of ships, equipment, and personnel.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

*Ability to initiate and authorize rejection of workmanship, components, materials, and procedures that do not meet specifications by preparing a Nuclear Deficiency Report.
*Using special measuring and inspection devices (e.g digital multimeters and AC/DC power supplies).
*Interpreting diagrams, specifications drawings and technical requirements at the journeyman or artisan level.
*Performing naval nuclear work or experience working on shipboard (submarine) nuclear and structural systems.
*Ability to use journeyman level or higher experience in the marine electronics trades and marine electrical trades or closely related trades to determine that components and systems meet all operational requirements.
