You will serve as a PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT in the Ocean Engineering Department (Code 123) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will be responsible for the overall effectiveness of the availabilities in terms of cost, quality, schedule. You will be responsible for the coordination and integration of all products and services of the work force supervised and of the various supporting organizations. You will be responsible for directing, supervising, and coordinating the productive effort in the planning, overhaul, repair, modification, installation, and testing of all shipboard work. You will determine long and short-range needs for resources such as, manpower, materials, equipment, staff support, etc. You will conduct various meetings including Department Head and Command briefings to ensure an accurate flow of information regarding schedule, cost and material issues. You will implement policy developed at higher levels and assigning or holding responsible those organizations accountable for proper execution of the overhaul.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: directing, supervising, and coordinating programs from planning to execution of all shipboard work (overhaul, repair, modification, installation, and testing) to include ocean engineering, nuclear, and non-nuclear ship systems.
