About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Surgery, Anesthesiology SVC/Pain Management Clinic, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) with the Defense Health Agency, Indo-Pacific Market. Duties

Serve as first assistant to the Physician during pain procedures in the OR and clinic setting. Check equipment for completeness and proper functioning prior to use. Ensure treatment room is clean and orderly. Change dressings on post-operative patients, removes sutures and staples as required. Assist with ultrasound studies and procedures under the directions of the Physician. Oversee the ordering of anesthetic and therapeutic agents for surgical procedures based on the physician's orders. Perform diagnostic screens and assesses vital signs and diagnostic studies. Perform a variety of administrative tasks for the Pain Clinic in support of the Head Nurse. Assist with reception area functions, to include patient check-in, medical record processing and scheduling patients for appointments and surgery.

• This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the employer.
• In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Basic Requirement for a Practical Nurse: Licensure: A current license to practice as a practical/vocational nurse in a State or territory of the United States or District of Columbia OR must have applied for a license to practice. Applications of candidates possessing a license must be accompanied by a certified or photostatic copy of the license. Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. Those not licensed must furnish the date on which they applied for a license and the jurisdiction involved. No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained. Education: Graduation from a State Board of Nursing approved LPN/LVN training program or completion of equivalent military training that permits sitting for the State licensure examination. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience required: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as measuring patient's vital signs, administering immunizations or medications via various routes, screening or updating patient medical records and performing routine procedures. This definition of nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
