Duties

As a Pathways Student Trainee (Management Analyst), you will be responsible for supporting professional staff and performing a variety of support work, such as: Maintaining administrative information. Coordinating with other organizations and individuals in the development of performance indicators. Gathering, extracting, reviewing, verifying, and consolidating a variety of narrative information and statistical data needed to support various administrative activities. Attending meetings or conferences to observe proceedings, take notes, gather information and covey the office's position on routine matters. Student Internship program: These positions are being filled under the Pathways-Internship Program, which provides opportunities for high school, vocational and technical, undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to gain work experience while pursuing their education. Position Duration/Expectation: HRSA is seeking qualified student employees to participate in the Pathways Internship Program under indefinite appointments. Appointment is based on continued needs/funds for the position and your continued compliance in the Pathways Intern Program. This is a developmental program while you complete your education. After successful completion of the program requirements, you may be non-competitively converted to a term position (not to exceed 1-4 years), or a permanent position in the competitive service. However, in some situations a conversion may not be a guarantee. Work Schedule: You may work a full-time or part-time schedule. Part-time hours are typically 16-32 hours per week. The work schedule will be established so that it does not interfere with the academic schedule during the school year. NOTE: Do not cut and paste the duties, specialized experience, or occupational assessment questionnaire from this announcement into your resume as that will not be considered a demonstration of your qualifications for this position.

Requirements

  • U. S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age by the closing date of the announcement.
  • Requires a trial period for the duration of the program.
  • Must be a student in an accredited educational program.
  • Males ages 18 through 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • If selected, you must sign a HRSA Pathways Participant Agreement.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)

Qualifications

ELIGIBILITY and QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE: 03/05/2024 PATHWAYS STUDENT INTERN PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: You MUST be either accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a half- to full-time basis (as determined by the educational institution) beginning the next available school term to qualify for this program. Enrollment must be in an accredited high school, community college, vocational or technical program, undergraduate, graduate, or professional program that culminates in a diploma, certificate, or degree. NOTE: To be considered eligible for this Pathways program, you MUST provide proof of acceptance or current enrollment in a qualifying educational institution for Fall 2024. Minimum Age Requirement- You MUST be at least 16 years of age by the closing date of the announcement. Employees selected for this position are eligible for promotion up to the GS-11 grade level while in the Pathways Program. The advancement of Interns to higher-graded positions, prior to conversion, is strictly at the agency's discretion. To qualify for promotions, the Interns must have the same level and type of experience and/or education usually required for an initial appointment. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must provide education documents to support level of education claimed. For the GS-5: Completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree. For the GS-7: Completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; OR Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. To be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: Class Standing - Applicants must have been in the upper third of the graduating class in a college, university, or major subdivision such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society - Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. NOTE: Grade-point averages will be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. Education
