About the Position: Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city in the state of Georgia, home to 5 million people and the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States. The Division is located downtown with easy access to major interstate highways. Retail shopping and numerous dining choices are located within a short walk or drive from the office. Duties
Maintains exclusive control and coordinates the Commander’s daily operational tempo, short and long-range calendars.
Independently makes travel arrangements using an automated software program for managing travel orders.
Ensures vouchers are completed in accordance with regulatory guidance.
Ensures distribution of information required to personnel attending scheduled events for preparedness and travel coordination, to include updates.
Exercises broad discretion in replying to personal and semi-official correspondence involving fundamental matters of policy, exercising care to incorporate the appropriate attitude, phraseology, and interpretation of policy.
On highly confidential communications develops replies for the Commander without previous consultation.
Maintains personal contact list which are typically with high-ranking officials from stakeholders listed above.
Facilitates the decision-making process by packaging and controlling staff actions and information flow.
Acts as primary advisor for a wide range of administrative actions, often requiring short suspense and synchronized coordination.
Advises Headquarters and District administrative staff and ensures understanding of administrative and procedural requirements.
Receives and screens visitors and phone calls at the discretion of the Commanding General, screens all calls with an extremely high degree of discretion, tact, and
diplomacy.
Assists staff in coordinating participation in strategic engagements, projects, and briefings.
Accurately and promptly transmits and receives documents and messages electronically.
Advises administrative personnel and staff action officers on administrative procedures.
Coordinates and liaisons with internal and outside agencies.
Greets personnel (staff and/or visitors) in person, on the phone or via email.
Reaches out to identify/gather material for use in reports, presentations, and scheduled events.
Uses initiative to determine best approach to handle a wide variety of situations and conflicts.
Works independently executing responsibilities following up on requirements and commitments.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes: Experience coordinating and synchronizing a senior leader's short- and long-range calendars using automated management tools. Maintains electronic office calendar and synchronizes operational support and resources for scheduled events. Experience creating travel orders and vouchers, which includes synchronization of hotel and transportation requirements in accordance with local policy, ethics rules, and DOD travel regulations. Experience with decision-process tools, packaging, facilitating, and controlling staff actions for resolving conflict and streamlining the decision-making process. Skilled at advising others on administrative procedural instructions and requirements. Experience with lower-level and higher-level communication, liaison, and military protocols, including general officer (GO), senior executive services (SES), and congressional level engagements.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09 or above).

TYPING PROFICIENCY:
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
