You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) in the Officer Personnel Plans Department of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.
Duties
You will function as an administrative assistant to the Personnel Planner by performing a wide range of duties required to accomplish the mission of the Personnel Plans Department.
You will provide indoctrination of incoming personnel new to the division.
You will retrieve, process, and interpret raw data from a variety of sources.
You will compute monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc Medical Department reports.
You will conduct audits on Medical Department officer personnel transactions.
You will provide guidance and assistance to military and civilian personnel at all organizational levels regarding special pays, obligations, order and dates of rank, based on subject matter knowledge.
You will create and maintain personnel records using mainframe and client-server based databases, scanning and indexing systems, and personnel data storage and retrieval systems.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience creating and maintaining files in accordance with organization policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Experience utilizing human resources automated systems to research information in reference to personnel records and databases.
Experience researching and compiling data to provide appropriate responses to inquiries.
Experience providing technical information, guidance and assistance to personnel regarding policies and procedures.
Experience processing gains and losses, tracking and reporting gains and losses and other associated manpower tasks.
Experience receiving applications, making travel arrangements, pay arrangements, and ensuring service credit for retirement purposes.
