Duties
As a Supervisory Health Scientist you will:
Serve as the Deputy Associate Director of the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program
Serve as an alter ego to the Associate Director, sharing in all aspects of the Division's operation and exercise full supervisory personnel management responsibilities
Provide day-to-day direction and oversight of the division's technical programs.
Work with branch chiefs to foster, build, and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with appropriate officials of state, federal, non-federal and other organizations
Develop, implement, evaluate and improve processes and procedures to monitor the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the organization
Work with the Associate Director to design and refine the program's overall research portfolio to align with a research-integration-to-care logic model
Participate in multiple scientific meeting venues to discuss interim research findings and health surveillance analytics; and participating in the WTC Secondary Review Committee to determine funding priority of proposed research projects that formal peer review has determined to be technically meritorious
Facilitate collaborative interactions among the multiple entities conducting research to enhance research translation and dissemination
Supervise and have a line of authority over branch chiefs, senior advisors, and other professional and support staff
Perform the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties and performance management activities related to staff development, monitoring, and accountability

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience: planning, organizing, and directing technical, professional, and administrative activities to provide quality medical treatment and monitoring to eligible members of a health plan.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
