Duties

Serve as Chief, Environmental Military Section and principal advisor concerning the development and management of the Military Environmental program. Responsible for exercising control and coordination for the development, management, and execution of the Planning, Construction, General, General Investigations and Operations and Maintenance Military programs. Participate in program and budget development. Responsible for developing and implementing the vision, mission, and direction of the organization by leading and managing and inclusive, diverse workforce. Confer with corporate managers to establish broad mission requirements and in developing corporate plans, goals, and objectives. Represent the Corporate Team (District Commander, DPM, Chief Military/IIS Branch for all assigned projects. Communicate performance standards to employees clearly to establish mutual understanding of performance expectation. Monitor studies, design, and construction fiscal progress, analyzing deviations and problems, and develops solutions to assure commitments are met.

The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following: (1) Related Curriculum - Degree in architectural engineering provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in statement A above, or (2) Experience: 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. In the absence of any college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must have demonstrated that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Exercising control and coordination for the development, management and execution of the assigned environmental programs of the district. (2) Implementing controls to assure charges to projects reflect commitments to customers and partners on cost, quality, and schedules. (3) Monitoring studies, design, and construction fiscal progress, analyzing deviations and problems, and develops solutions to assure commitments are met. (4) Developing and mentoring Program and Project Mangers responsible for leading Project Delivery teams within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Delivery Business Process (PDBP). (5) Evaluating and interpreting directives and policy instructions regarding the programs and estimates their impact on assigned program budgets.
