About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Security Assistant for the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Administration Security Division, Personnel Security Branch. Positions will be filled at Fairbanks, Alaska / Fort Eustis, Virginia / Augusta, Georgia. This is not a remote position. Salary negotiation may be available for those highly qualified candidates who are new to Federal service. Student loan repayment may be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Duties

Review and submit initial and periodic personnel security investigations and associated documentation for appropriateness, completeness, and accuracy. Maintain access rosters and office files to verify personnel security clearances. Initiate actions and prepare security clearance documents for investigations and documentation for reinvestigations. Perform personnel security functions and tasks for military, civilian, and contract personnel assigned or attached to the Agency and its subordinate units. Track and review requests for clearances and periodic reinvestigations which include personal information, police record checks, transcripts, notes, or extracts of interviews conducted by other agencies. Prepare security clearance documents and forward documents to investigative and adjudicative agencies. Perform local record checks, Provost Marshal checks, and personnel records checks. Conduct security briefings and debriefings on foreign travel. Assist with training individuals or groups on security related matters. Assist in maintenance and coordination of classified document control and security education briefings and awareness.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Personnel Security and SafetySecurity Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
