About the Position: Serve as Plans and Operations Specialist: Employs an extensive knowledge of the mission, functions, and operations of the Brigade, battalions, and Reserve Component Units to assists the S-3 for all matters concerning training, operations, plans, force development, modernization, and mobilization.
Duties
Assist preparation, coordination, authentication, publishing, and distribution of Command SOPs, operation plans (OPLANs), operation orders (OPORDs), fragmentary orders (FRAGOs), and warning orders (WARNORDs) to which other staff sections contribute.
Provide direction and guidance on standards, methods, operational priorities, and compliance with policies and directives.
Coordinate the work of the section.
Supervise the planning and development of courses of action and subsequent Mobilization Station and Power Generation Platform contingencies.
Provide executive direction, assistance, and support for all operations and missions of the Brigade.
Assist the supervisor in plan development and training of both Brigade and Mobilized unit Mission Essential Task Lists (METLs).
Conduct parallel planning with the Mobilization Installation and focuses the sections efforts on Commanders’ specific and directive guidance.
Serves as a senior advisor for required training; supervise, plan, direct, coordinate, manage and evaluate training management in all areas of training support and mobilization.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- A one year supervisory probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1) Coordinating military assistance with civil authorities for emergencies in operations, 2) Overseeing the execution of plans supporting mobilization of unit activities; 3) Overseeing units in the development of a force protection program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11 or above.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
