Joining the Secret Service, Asset Forfeiture Branch (AFB) , Criminal Investigative Division will allow you to contribute to the productivity and effectiveness of asset forfeiture operations. This Asset Forfeiture Specialistposition starts at a salary of $82,764.00 (GS 11 step 1, with promotion potential to GS-13 step 10. For more information on the Secret Service click here.

Duties

The selectee will serve as an Asset Forfeiture Specialist in the Asset Forfeiture Branch (AFB). Typical work assignments include: Ensuring that the correct forfeiture statutes and Suspicious Underlying Activities (SUAs) are correctly charged to initiate a successful judicial forfeiture. Utilizing USSS policies concerning the disposition of forfeited property and provides guidance to Field stakeholders. Monitoring FasTrak to ensure data integrity and notices are processed in accordance with applicable policies. Utilizing various legal data bases such as Lexis Nexis, CourtLink, Pacer and other databases provided by FINCEN in order to research judicial forfeitures.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level performing the following duties: Reviewing financial transactions related to seizure and forfeiture of assets to ensure the scope of laws or policies are not exceeded; Ensuring the accuracy of financial records and allocations; Reviewing and processing forfeiture requests according to internal policies and procedures; and Establishing relationships with stakeholders to advance exchange of information. You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level performing the following duties: Utilizing the civil asset, forfeiture, reformation act (CAFRA) and other applicable laws to legally execute forfeiture procedures; Establishing probable cause through research and review to acquire, forfeited property, and/or assets; Researching in analyzing fax to evaluate claims or review petitions; and Processing for features under forfeiture statutes, both criminal and or legal.
