This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Data Scientist providing professional and scientific expertise in performance of work requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources of the Army Medical Command.

Duties

Create data models, continually assessing the data architecture of the organization. Develop plans to address data architecture shortfalls and provide feasible recommendations. Develop feasible data architecture recommendations for new and emerging models, analysis tools, and projects. Develop, construct, test, maintain, and synchronizes a data architecture for the organization. Use professional and scientific knowledge to conduct data analytics. Use various programming languages and tools to identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality for analysis missions.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for a Data Scientist: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.(Transcripts required at the time of application.) OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. (Transcripts required at the time of application.) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the formulation of analytical/mathematical procedures to solve business and operational data problems; assisting with planning and conducting analytical studies of business and operational problems; assisting with creating and presenting analytical reports for audiences of all levels. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Specialized Experience GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the formulation of analytical/mathematical procedures to solve business and operational data problems; assisting with planning and conducting analytical studies of business and operational problems; assisting with creating and presenting analytical reports for audiences of all levels. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes formulating analytical/mathematical procedures to solve business and operational data problems; planning and conducting analytical studies of business and operational problems; creating and presenting analytical reports for audiences of all levels.
