About the Position: The position is a Lead Data Scientist referred to in the organization as Data Steward located in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G8/9, Readiness Analytics Directorate, Systems Division, US Army Medical Command, Ft Sam Houston, TX. The Data Steward will develop solutions requirements to make data visible to authorized users by identifying, registering, and exposing data in a way that makes it easily discoverable across the enterprise, and to external partners.

Duties

Provide scientific expertise in performance of work planning, coordinating, and executing systematic research and surveillance. Analyze data from the Military Health System's (MHS) electronic health records (EHR). Interface computer with military medical data elements and Military Health System's tools, data warehouses, and DataMart’s. Possess knowledge and application of mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and data and computer sciences. Has expert knowledge on the use of programming languages and is able to use the integrated set of data management and support tools. Apply work experience with use of large longitudinal medical databases, statistical/analysis software platforms.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in application of mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and data and computer sciences, work experience with use of large longitudinal medical databases, statistical/analysis software platforms, analyze extremity injury data from the Military Health System's electronic health records, interface computer with military medical data elements and Military Health System's tools, data warehouses, and DataMart's. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsData AnalysisData Analysis and Decision MakingScientific Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
