THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1205000 and is part of the KS Maneuver And Training Equipment Site, National Guard.

Duties

As an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-11, you will perform field and limited sustainment maintenance and repair on a variety of complex electronics equipment and complete operational systems. Perform functional tests, analyze performance and malfunctions, remove, install ,test, maintain, modify, perform alignments and troubleshoot the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment to include the M1 series main battle tank, M2/3series Bradley fighting vehicle, Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), TOW Missile System and the ATACMS Launch Loader Module (LLM). Troubleshoot and repair launch pod/container (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assembly (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Use various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as AN/GRM-122s, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit, by circuit within a component, and by element of a circuit. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: This position works on a 4/10's compressed work schedule with four 10-hour days, Tuesday-Friday each week of the pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

• KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance within one year of appointment.

• Temporary promotion NTE deployment + 30 days/Tenure 1, 2, or 3: Current onboard tenure 1, 2 or 3 technicians with promotion potential into this position will be temporarily promoted and returned to their original position after deployer returns.
• Indefinite NTE deployment + 30 days/tenure 3: New agency hires will be hired on as an Indefinite/tenure 3 employee NTE deployment + 30 days.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E1 through E8, WO1 Compatible Military Assignments: immaterial GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
