THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the KS Maneuver And Training Equipment Site, National Guard.
Duties
As an ELECTRONICS EQIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR, WG-2604-12, you will inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position

Qualifications
Military Grades: E-5 through E-9 or WO1 through CW2
Compatible Military Assignments: Immaterial
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require employees to frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and working in inverted positions. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, heat, changing temperatures, and noise. When outside, may sometimes work in adverse weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on components and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns or bruises, electrical shock and sprains while repairing, positioning, moving equipment. Is often exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acid, fluids, solder, and lubricants. May use safety equipment for extended periods such as protective ear devices, eye protection, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing.
