You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS MAINTENANCE CONTROLLER (MVO) in the N5/N9 Department of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

Duties

You will manage telephone work order control for received telephone work order requests or CSO directed work orders. You will validate and prioritize work orders and seek the advise of supervisor as required. Assign work order tracking number in internal database. You will receive telephone trouble from customer and perform preliminary assessment. Record pertinent information and use established procedures to collect data by phone. Log all troubles and assign trouble tickets in CAIRS database. You will maintain and update records and files in accordance with established regulations and guidance. File information for project activities, studies and personnel files.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Knowledge of telephone operations, central office prefixes, area codes and dialing instructions sufficient enough to gather the appropriate information to generate work orders. Understanding of telephone capabilities and limitations to be able to assess basic telephone problems and determine the necessary corrective action. Communicate telephone malfunctions from customer to technician via processing of a trouble ticket or work order required for telephone installations and/or repairs. This position is within the Work Category Technician & Admin Support at Work Level I, Series and Grade GG-0303-05. Education
