About the Position: This position is with the DoD Education Activity HQ, Financial and Business OPS DIR Resource Management Division DTS/RAT Travel Branch located at the Mark Center Building in Alexandria, VA.

Duties

Provide support to DFAS on disbursement vouchers and foreign currency transactions. Serves as point of contact for payroll offices. Provides time and attendance liaison service. Provides training of Time and Attendance issues to timekeepers through Computer Based Training (CBT). Maintains local tables in Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS). Receives installation/release packages, prepares and distributes packages for all timekeepers.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

Specialized Experience for the GS 09: One year of specialized experience which includes: Resolve Time and Attendance problems; Adjusts annual leave, sick leave, and miscellaneous leave as necessary: Receives documents to change employee's payroll accounts to include, but not limited to, address changes; Provides time and attendance liaison service. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, finance, economics, statistics or accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for the GS 11: One year of specialized experience which includes: Responds to inquiries from serviced customers through the Defense Civilian Pay System (DCPS); Researches the automated master employee records and the historical data base to respond to questions or resolve problems concerning back pay issues; Provides data entry to update Master Employee Record (MER) such as address changes; savings; allotments; and, Federal, state and local tax authorizations; Merges and transmits the Time and Attendance files to the consolidated civilian payroll office. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, finance, economics, statistics or accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for the GS 12: One year of specialized experience which includes: Researches the automated master employee records and the historical data base to respond to questions or resolve problems concerning back pay issues which could vary in complexity depending on the number of actions and the number of years affected by the late processing of the personnel actions; Maintains local tables in Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS); Provides training to the new timekeepers; Maintains security for timekeepers and certifies alternatives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
