Duties

Pass on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and starts work. Ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Urge or advise other employees to follow supervisor’s instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods. Work along with other workers, setting the pace. Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI T1.
• Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

Have the ability to perform common Production Machinery Mechanic Leader tasks. Can 1) test machinery and equipment through the use of devices such as leak detectors, flow meters, and gauges, 2) perform major and minor repairs to fixed industrial production equipment such as power saws, drill presses, and milling machines, and 3) perform equipment assembly tasks such as installing bushings, bearings, gears, and shafts. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside and outside exposing the repairers to the prevailing weather conditions, excessive noise, and intermittent slippery or uneven surfaces. Incumbents are constantly exposed to moving objects, elevations, and sharp edges, with the possibility of cuts and bruises. Grease, dirt and dampness are frequently encountered. Incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for this position.
