This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DIB and MRTFB DHA to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Assist higher grade workers in the installation, dismantling or relocation of machinery as required. Perform general maintenance of all machine tools and other equipment at regularly scheduled intervals to prevent damage to gearings, shafts, pulleys, and other parts of the machine requiring oiling, greasing, and cleaning. Observe and report to supervisor any machine tools and other equipment showing signs of excessive wear and tear as a result of incorrect set-up or operation. Perform simpler hand fitting operations by filing, honing, and grinding parts as required for proper operation of machines. Work with high grade repairer with tasks such as fitting and installing bushings, bearings, gearings, and shafts. Test field coils, brush leads, brush holders, and armature and commutator windings for shorts, open circuits, or grounds, and replacing defective parts with serviceable units.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation NACI T1.
• Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• Position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
• One year probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) PRODUCTION MACHINERY REPAIRER ~ without more than normal supervision. Assist in the testing of machinery and equipment through the use of devices such as levels and gauges, perform minor repairs to installed industrial machinery such as power saws, drill presses, and milling machines, and use portable machine and hand tools to complete routine repairs. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Frequently handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds for considerable distance. Incumbents are required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, and climb for sustained periods of time. Sometimes works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside; worker is subject to electrical shock and burns; cuts and abrasions when using hand tools in confined places; eye and hand injuries from power tools and skin irritations from certain types of oils and detergents. Incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for this position.
