About the Position: This position is located at Fort Jackson, Richland, South Carolina.

Duties

Provide briefings to individuals on various military health benefits. Assist with special benefits information booths, including participation in retirement briefings, health fairs and other related activities. Schedule medical appointments for the beneficiary with appropriate health care provider. Notify patients of appointments. Serve as liaison between federal treatment facilities, patients, and civilian health care organizations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Tier 1 investigation is Required.
  • Qualified Typist is required: Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
  • This position may require a seasonal influenza vaccination and annually there after.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling medical appointments, collaborating with health care providers, and responding to written and oral healthcare inquires. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Or Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Communication Studies. Or Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AccountabilityOral CommunicationWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
