About the position: This position will be assigned to the Bowling Center located at Columbus Air Force Base. The primary function of the position involves work as operational manager of a bowling center venue.

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities: Manages all aspects of day-to-day operations of the Bowling Center to include facility operational management and maintenance. Develops and implements standard operating procedures, budgets, short- and long-range action plans. Evaluates the success of operation and entertainment program in terms of profitability, customer satisfaction, and mission. Supports and ensures the integrity of all applicable internal controls. Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of food, beverage, and recreational entertainment programming. Establishes financial goals commensurate with market analysis of area or region. Prepares budget, analyzes financial results, and maintains solid financial condition of the facility and range. Responsible for work force management, recruitment, and staff training. Manages real property resources and provides expert advice on renovations, improvements, and minor and major construction. Ensures all facility equipment is correctly maintained. Supervises assigned staff and oversees the following operations: Bowling, Food & Beverage, and Entertainment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to physically lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds and assist in the movement/installation of machines and equipment with the use of dollies or hand trucks. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Performance is measured on the basis of results achieved, i.e., success of total operations in terms of customer satisfaction, participation and interest, and profitability of operations. Establishes an internal performance management system to ensure proper assignments, review, and evaluation of employee performance. Ensures that EEO concepts are applied, and that an appropriate work environment is maintained. Ensures education in and compliance with security directives. Ensures good safety and health practices. Actively participates in the recruitment and development of staff members. Achieves a satisfactory rating on all external evaluations and inspections. Implements and maintains an effective internal control system to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse. Ensures that revenues and expenditures are properly recorded and accounted for to provide for reliable financial and statistical reports, and to maintain accountability over assets. Develops budget plan estimates and justifications that contain major program objectives within prescribed timeframes. Resolves problems promptly with minimal adverse impact on functional operation. Plans and assigns work to subordinates to effectively accomplish the objectives of the mission. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: General Experience: Progressively responsible management experience in hospitality, entertainment or recreational activity. Must be well organized with an attention to detail. Must possess ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must have well-developed computer, organizational, time management, prioritization and writing abilities, with an aptitude for learning new skills. Demonstrated knowledge of PC computer programs including Microsoft operating system, Excel and PowerPoint required. Desired is a knowledge and experience with property and institutional management systems (Aloha/NCR, Qubica AMF, Benchmark, Sales and Catering Systems, Miracle, Central, etc.). Substitution for general experience: A four-year degree from an accredited college with a major in one or a combination of recreation or business management. Specialized experience: In addition to the general experience, applicant must have specialized experience gained in the operation or management of a civilian or military lodging, club, restaurant, bowling or golf course operation. Specialized experience must be at a level that shows the applicant can perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A BPAA certificate is desirable but not required. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
