Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Pentagon is searching for a Senior Force Application Requirements Analyst (NH-0343-04, GS14/15 equivalent). Description: The USSF Operational Capability Requirements Directorate (S5R) within the Chief Strategy and Resources Office (HQSF/S5/8) is responsible for representing USSF within the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) and non-traditional requirements processes. The USSF Senior Force Application Requirements Analyst will drive USSF capability development through writing and coordinating requirements documents for USSF capabilities within the Force Application portfolio, and will collaborate extensively with OSD, Joint Staff, other Services, Combatant Commands, and Field Commands to integrate USSF capability development actions. They will represent the USSF at the Force Application Working Group and Functional Capabilities Board, and will prepare senior USSF officials for the Joint Capabilities Board and Joint Requirements Oversight Council. Candidates with excellent written/oral communication, ability to collaborate with both internal and external teams, as well as the ability to deliver on short deadlines are well-suited for the position. This position requires the maturity, poise, and professionalism to conduct senior action officer responsibilities on a 4-star level staff. The ideal candidate is an expert in the joint functions of Fires, Movement, and Maneuver. Expertise in offensive and defensive space control capabilities is highly desired; expertise in operational capability requirements and JCIDS is preferred but not required; and expertise in Special Access Program management is desired but not required. The selectee will be required to obtain and maintain appropriate Special Access Program clearance as well as Requirements Management Certification Training once onboard. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate should be an expert in the joint functions of Fires, Movement, and Maneuver, and will represent the USSF in Force Application requirements fora. Candidates with excellent written/oral communication, ability to collaborate with both internal and external teams, strong critical thinking, planning, organization skills, and the ability to deliver on short deadlines are well-suited for the position. Expertise in offensive and defensive space control capabilities is highly desired, and expertise in operational capability requirements and the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) is preferred but not required. Additionally, expertise in Special Access Program management is desired but not required. The ideal candidate will have background working in DoD operations, capability development, acquisitions, planning and budgeting, and will also be a skilled staff officer. Expertise in the joint functions of Fires, Movement, and Maneuver, as well as excellent written/oral communication, ability to collaborate with both internal and external teams, and the ability to deliver on short deadlines will be necessary to walk in the door. Expertise in offensive and defensive space control capabilities is highly desired, and expertise in operational capability requirements and the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) is preferred but not required. Additionally, expertise in Special Access Program management is desired but not required. Candidate should be skilled and comfortable with software applications to include Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Expert knowledge of Joint Staff and Space Force operational capability requirements development processes and knowledge of the Department of Defense Planning Programming Budgeting and Execution process and Acquisition processes. 2. Knowledge of the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS). 3. In-depth knowledge of the relationship of the various Space Force entities, to include Intelligence, involved in overall planning and execution of military operations and evaluations, and the way the directorate processes supports them. 4. Ability to define, direct, or lead highly challenging projects/programs. 5. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, conduct analysis, devise recommended solutions, and package the entire process in briefings, papers, or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making. 6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintains good working relations.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • PCS and Incentives funding is not available.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Random drug testing may be required depending upon the position being filled.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • This position is not eligible for telework.
