This position is located under the Quality and Patient Safety, St. Cloud VA Health Care System, St. Cloud, MN. Incumbent is responsible for assisting with the organization, coordination, implementation and ongoing management of the Infection Prevention Program within the Department of Quality, Safety and Value (QSV).

Duties

Duties for the position include but are not limited to: Recognizing the dimensions of the problems involved, collect the necessary information, establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines. Solving a variety of issues related to the Infection Prevention specialty. Completing assignments in accordance with accepted practices, resolving most conflicts that arise. Assisting in the implementation of the Health Care System's (HCS) Infection Control Program, ensuring high quality staff practices to prevent and control transmission of infection to patients, visitors and staff. Assisting in the coordination of accreditation program specific reviews and preparation for internal and external reviews. Utilizing expert knowledge of the health care system's computer programs to include: the computerized patient record system (CPRS), the VistA computer program and various other software programs. Reviewing appropriate CPRS patient information and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reports to clarity and collect data: type of organism/infection, trends, surveillance, and other epidemiological analyses. Developing educational offerings, storyboards, and/or staff notices as guided by the Infection Prevention Nurse/MIDRO Coordinator to convey program information to target audiences. Participates in environment of care rounds, construction rounds and other types of rounding as needed to identity infection prevention risks or issues. Tracking and reviewing data and event information for entry in the Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC) database. Performing coverage duties when the Infection Prevention Nurse and/or MDRO Coordinator is out of the office in collaboration with the Director, QSV. Assisting with the planning of Lean Six Sigma education events and project tracking. Performing other related quality management related duties as assigned. Adhering to the highest level of confidentiality when managing individual protected information. Protects generated information from unauthorized release and from loss, alteration or unauthorized deletion. Work Schedule: M-F 07:30am - 04:00pm Ad Hoc: Telework is eligible at Supervisor's discretion. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/01/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include what is stated above, as well as, but are not limited to: I have one year (52 weeks) of full-time specialized experience that has equipped me with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable specialized experience, it must have been equivalent to the GS-06 grade level (or equivalent) and includes but is not limited to: taking or recommending action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines. Reviewing appropriate CPRS patient information to collect data. Assisting with developing, analyzing, and creating various reports. Developing educational offerings to convey program information to target audiences. Participating in environment of care rounds, construction rounds and other types of rounding. Tracking and reviewing data and event information for entry into a database. Providing clerical and analytical support to a department.
