This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Dispute Resolution (ODI/DR). The incumbent of the position is an attorney and the Deputy Director, ODI/DR. The incumbent provides legal advisory services to the Director, ODI/DR. These services specifically include application and compliance with pertinent U.S. Code provisions and the Congressional Accountability Act (CAA).  

Duties

This position requires active membership in good standing of the Bar of the highest court of any State or the District of Columbia.

In addition, the following Specialized Experience is required: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Candidates for the GS-14 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service.  (1) Leading professional, technical and administrative team members to foster a culture of learning, sharing, cooperation and teamwork; (2) Experience with a dispute resolution program which included services such as conflict coaching, mediation and group facilitation; (3) Facilitating meetings, discussions and leading formal presentations; (4) Serving as technical expert on EEO and Reasonable Accommodation policies, the Congressional Accountability Act (CAA) and other applicable EEO law; and (5) Conducting investigations of fact to mediate and reconcile disagreements between managers and employees complaining of civil rights or employment violations. (6) Experience providing advice, guidance and liaison services on complex legal issues of the agency and other government organizations pertaining to employment and labor law, equal employment opportunity (EEO) law, workplace safety and health law, and torts.

Education

Education Requirements:

Applicant must possess a J.D. or LL.B. degree and be an active member in good standing of the bar of a State, Territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.  Must provide transcripts if selected.

Special Instructions for Foreign Education: 

Education completed outside of the United States must be deemed equivalent to that gained in conventional/accredited U.S. education programs to be acceptable for Federal employment.

Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part of foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree.

You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation with a course by course listing if selected.
