Duties

You will serve as an environmental science program manager responsible for implementation of requirements to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, permit conditions, and policies. You will prioritize requirements and resolve conflicts related to funding, regulatory/policy, and human health / environmental concerns. You will serve as a subject matter expert for compliance with laws, regulations, permit conditions, and policies applicable to assigned media program areas. You will prepare, review, and edit technical reports and work plans to comply with regulatory requirements. You will provide emergency assistance/expertise for spills of hazardous materials/wastes, petroleum products, and sewage, both during the regular duty day and after hours.

Qualifications

GS-11: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: establishing objectives, policies, and standards for complex environmental management programs/projects; and advising facility planners, architects, and engineers on environmental aspects of project design, planning and implementation, GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting in establishing objectives, policies, and standards for complex environmental management programs/projects; and advising facility planners, architects, and engineers on environmental aspects of project design, planning and implementation, Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In addition to the specialized experience above, you must possess one of the following to qualify:

A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
