Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Plant Mechanic. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Folsom, California
Duties
Maintains, repairs, or modifies all mechanical equipment found in hydroelectric power plants and/or pumping plants.
Performs mechanical work, machinist work, sheet metal work, finish welding, pipefitting, crane operation and rigging connected with the maintenance, overhaul, and repair of turbines, generators, motors, pumps, compressors, filters, eductors, valves, pipes, penstocks, intakes, radial gates, spillways, and outlet works. Performs finish, structural and pipe welding and finish grinding on turbine runners.
Designs and manufactures tools, jigs, and fixtures. Fabricates parts from stock material. Rebuilds equipment to new. Performs tool and diemaker work.
Operates tools, equipment and machinery such as lathes, milling machines, boring bar, radial arm drill press, forklift, overhead bridge and gantry cranes, grinders, MIG, TIG, acetylene and arc welders, testing gauges, and machinist and common hand tools.
May hold clearances.

Physical Effort: Requires the ability to safely and efficiently perform the physical requirements of the position. Routinely lifts and carries heavy loads up to 50 pounds, up to 100 pounds with assistance. The work requires the employee to push, pull, bend, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, squat, work overhead and work at heights. Climbs scaffolding and ladders.
Working Conditions: Requires the ability to safely and efficiently work alone or with others. Work may be performed both indoors and outside. Some work is performed within confined spaces. Work is performed on or around moving equipment and energized sources. May travel to remote locations. May be exposed to irritation or discomfort from, dust, heat, noise, fumes, vapors and works on hard, damp floors or ground. Wears personal protective equipment as required to meet safety standardsand subject to wearing a respirator. May be required to wear an air sampling monitor during the performance of work.

Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered.
