This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Chief Counsel/Finance & Ethics Section This position primary purpose is to support the DEA's deputy Designated Agency Ethics Officials (DDAEOs) and attorneys in carrying out responsibilities of DEA's ethics program.

As a Ethics Specialistyour typical work assignments may include: Preparing reports, documents, letters, and other correspondence regarding substantive and procedural issues arising in ethics and compliance program development and operation. Reviewing financial disclosure statements and developing systems for collecting and reviewing these reports. Providing advice and guidance to DEA employees and managers on the interpretation and application of the ethics statutes, rules and regulations. Updating and revising the DEA ethics website.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. For GS-12: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 federal grade level performing the following, (1) Developing detailed plans, goals, and objectives for the long-range implementation and administration of the ethics program; (2) Advising on ethics laws, regulations, policies and precedents which determine the effectiveness of the training provided to employees and managers; and (3) Conducting detailed analyses of complex functions and work processes. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: Competencies: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competencies in the following areas: Decision MakingPlanning and EvaluatingWriting Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F).
