About the Position: The incumbent serves as a Lead Police Officer assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations.
Duties
Write detailed reports to support arrests, investigations, and other law enforcement functions.
Sustain effective relationships with community leaders to obtain their support for law enforcement activities.
Control difficult or confrontational individuals when responding to a perceived threat.
Employ sophisticated police equipment and weapons to perform law enforcement duties.
Perform contingency actions in response to incidents, emergencies, or hostile actions as a member of a law enforcement response force.
Arrest individuals identified as having outstanding warrants.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with requirements and maintain certification under the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. In accordance with (IAW) AR 600-85, a DA Form 5019R (Condition of Employment) must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Clearance.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Incumbent must able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment.
- The incumbent must meet the requirements of the Army Regulation for Police Officers and Security Guards 190-56 for continued employment.
- Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56.
- Successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. To include weapons qualifications, first aid CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. Subject to removal if convicted of a felony.
- Position is mission essential. Must report during Inclement weather conditions or other designed / identified emergency conditions. The incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority.
- This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by human resources within 30 calendar days after the Entrance on Duty (i.e., start date).
- Selectee’s inability to successfully pass or refusal to conduct the drug test may result in the job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process
- or subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting and/or safeguarding evidence and issuing traffic citations and/or completing law enforcement reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
