Duties
You will respond to and investigate complaints and enforce federal laws, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), DoD, Naval and Marine Corps regulations and installation directives, rules and regulations.
You will perform motorized, walking of bike patrols of installation; respond to emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
You will respond to and conduct preliminary investigations relating to critical incidents aboard installations.
You will subdue and disarm those doing violence to other persons, assists the injured and administer first aid; warns and/or uses force to restrain and apprehend violators.
You will gather and analyze the facts, seizes and protects evidence, takes statements, makes diagrams, interviews witnesses and other persons involved and determine course of action.
You will perform traffic law enforcement using radar, and Breathalyzer; conduct investigative stops, questions, detains and issues traffic citations; remove hazards from hard surface roadways or structures.
You will assure criminal or anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) measures are met to protect installation command and assure mission accomplishment.
You will perform building assaults, using close quarters battle skills; perform hostage rescue or other missions of Special Reaction Team (SRT).
You will provide high-ground, perimeter security, and utilize other security techniques against snipers and others.
You will provide controlled assault firepower in non-riot situation; rescue officers and citizens captured or endangered by gunfire.
You will provide support during investigations by performing surveillance, providing assistance on drug raids, search warrants and apprehensions.
Requirements
- Required to meet the pre-requisites to attend the SRT course and successfully complete SRT course.
- Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Must be 18 years of age.
- Work includes assignment to rotating shift, including weekends and holidays, subject to 24-hour recall and maintain a 24-hour recall notification number and is required to respond. Call back and emergency overtime required.
- This is a Department of Navy Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). Required to undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing.

- The DON does not employ individuals for Law Enforcement Officer positions who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence on or after 27 November 2002. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment.
- Candidate will meet all certification requirements to include weapons certifications. CPF, AED, DoD and Joint Training regulations. Training may be conducted at a regional training facility.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Must maintain program height and weight standards. Required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/policies
- Must pass a National Agency Check and local background check. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO}) and is excluded from coverage as LEO or purposes of the Federal Retirement System Base Annuity IAW 5 CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency. Must pass all weapons qualifications tests prior to assigned duties and responsibilities and must pass periodic re-tests as required.
- You must pass a sanctioned physical agility test and medical evaluation and pass periodic retests as required. Must meet medical standards for Police Officers in DoD 6055.05M and NMCPHC-TM-0M 6260.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license; and be able to maintain a U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
- Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection equipment, sobriety tests, expandable/collapsible baton and obtain other certifications required to accomplish duties.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Overtime may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.
Qualifications
GS-08: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: that provided knowledge of law enforcement operations; gathering intelligence; innovative investigative procedures and techniques, and the use of sophisticated police equipment and weapons for detecting, investigating and resolving crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope or requirements for solution by regular Police Officers such as performing building and high-ground assaults, perimeter security, serving as a member of a building entry team; utilizing security techniques against snipers, resolving high-risk situations, and providing support to criminal investigations by performing surveillance, assistance on drug raids, search warrants, and apprehensions

Conditions of Employment Continued:
May be required to respond to off base circumstances as directed by installation commander, in accordance with and do not violate USMC and DoD policy.
Must successfully complete a designated designated USMC Police Officers Course of Instruction and meet all certification requirements, to include weapons certification, CPR, AED, DOD and Joint Training Regulations. Training may be conducted at a regional training facility.
You must pass a 1st class Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test Standard as a pre-hire requirement and an annual requirement thereafter. This test consists of two parts; the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) successfully completed between 1 January through 30 June and the Combat Fitness Test (CFT) successfully completed between 1 July and 31 December. SRT members are exempt from the requirement of the Physical Agility Test (PAT). a medical physical evaluation is required for pre-hire and must pass a re-test annually.
As first responders to chemical/biological attacks, must be able to train and wear individual protective equipment to include mask, suit, boots and gloves.
If conducting law enforcement operations in navigable waters, must attend the Inland Boat Operators Training Program at FLETC or a similar course.
Required to meet the pre-requisites to attend the SRT course and successfully complete SRT course.
Education
Education cannot be used for Police Officer positions at the GS-06 and above.
