The purpose of the position is to plan and carry out program and administrative support activities related to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service that support the organization and daily service operations.
Duties
Major Duties Include (but not limited to):
Performs phone call triage support in need of coverage to clinics.
Performs time keeping duties.
Serves as general backup for individuals that are responsible for clinical services.
Acts as point of contact for clinical areas that may arise on a day-to-day basis regarding clinical and administratively related job duties.
Will work in conjunction with PM&RS leadership and/or the PM&RS education coordinators to ensure that any and all new employee training needs are addressed for employees, contractors, fee appointments, residents, interns, students and volunteers to ensure that the appropriate menus and keys are granted for VA staff to perform their clinical and administrative job requirements.
Coordinate and organizing communications between the PM&RS team and other internal and external service entities, including meeting planning, agenda development, arranging conference calls, maintaining written correspondence and transcribing memos as related to daily operations and congressional letters.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of the data. This includes preparation of data in table and/or pivot tables using Excel or Access format for review by the PM&RS leadership team.
Work Schedule: 08:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking, standing, bending, carrying light items instructional material books and manuals. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized experience includes:
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, or similar data management software to the extent necessary to develop and maintain the service database reports and create quality work to represent service data.
Skills in complex problem solving to correct inconsistencies in data collection and protocol, in addition to other problems associated with the administrative function of the service
Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully and professionally with all key stakeholders in a fashion that is respectful of education status, age appropriate, and cultural background
Demonstrate independent proficiency in computer word-processing, presentation, and graphic software programs.
Maintain office supplies and equipment
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
