This position is located within the Environmental Management Service at the West Palm Beach VAMC, West Palm Beach, FL. The primary purpose of this position involves performing clerical or technical supply support work necessary to ensure the effective operation of ongoing supply activities.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Receive and reviews a variety of rejected status generated by the data processing system which contains numerous codes used to inform appropriate recipients of the status of a requisition.
Assure timely and complete processing, control and follow up on documentation, determines cause of delays and coordinates action to ensure that supply transactions are completed within processing time standards.
Serve as stock room clerk for EMS.
Drive a government vehicle for pickup and delivery of supplies, sensitive material, recycling, laundry, and equipment and/or delivery of items.
Initiate orders with Purchasing Agent for all supplies when stock levels reach a set point so that supplies usually do not run out and emergency orders are not required.
Maintain accurate records of supplies issued so that accountability and levels can normally be established for individuals areas.
Maintain neat clean supply room with appropriate stock levels.
Conduct location surveys and physical inventory counts, and investigates discrepancies of all classes of supplies and assures that the material is properly identified, classified, and in the proper location.
Perform other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; subject to change based on the needs of the facility

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
General Experience: You must have one year of general experience in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position. Examples of general experience would typically include, but are not limited to: providing information to customers or external stakeholders regarding medical supplies; working with customers regarding administrative and/or medical supplies; ensuring data integrity of the inventory management system; ensuring critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled; and checking inventory for stock identified for recalled items and hazard alerts. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed two (2) full years of successfully completed education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. To calculate the combination, divide your total months of experience by 12, then divide your semester hours by 60 and add the two percentages. If the total is 100%, you meet the minimum qualifications through a combination of experience and education.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be physically able to do a considerable amount of walking, standing, climbing ladders, stooping, bending and crawling. Incumbent must be able to work in congested areas in tight, cramped, or awkward positions. Incumbent may be required to carry and set up ladders and indoor scaffolding/staging. Incumbent may be required to lift or move heavy equipment or furniture that may weigh more than 50 pounds. Incumbent may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and be fit tested for proper PPE and respirator. Incumbent works in Medical Center throughout the facility. Since much of the work is done in patient care areas, the incumbent must be ever alert to the safety and well-being of patients, visitors, staff and fellow employees. Duties may also involve working in tight, cramped, wet, dry and dusty areas. Incumbent may be exposed to skin irritations from strong chemical solutions. Incumbent may be subject to minor cuts, scrapes and bruises.
