You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPS) in the LITTORAL COMBAT SHIPS (LCS) QUALITY ASSURANCE DIVISION of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH.

Duties

You will prepare and monitor surveillance plans, and sampling criteria, for the fabrication, installation, activation, testing and trials of numerous shipboard systems. You will plan and apply quality assurance methods and techniques to audit and monitor the contractors quality assurance system and processes. You will monitor corrective actions undertaken to assure the product delivered adheres to referenced standards which prove success and adequate to prevent recurrence. You will serve as a member of the supervisor's MOCK INSURV Board assessing the ship's readiness to operate during acceptance trials, and provides assessment and recommendations to the SUPERVISOR concerning delivery readiness. You will assure proficiency is maintained in specified qualifications and certifications. You will apply knowledge and experience to the functionality and producibility of submitted designs. You will communicate detailed requirements and issues to command staff members.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrateone year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Monitoring quality assurance services (i.e., contracts, quality assurance, procurement, inspection, production or other related areas) to ensure products and services meet requirements for ship's readiness. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
