You will serve as a LEAD QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPS) in the QUALITY MANAGER (ELEC/CIS) BAY SHIP OFFICE; QUALITY ASSURANCE DIRECTOR of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH.

Duties

You will provide quality-engineering expertise with regards to oversight of Contractor Quality Assurance program. You will lead and guide the Data management team in the identification and application of problem solving methods and techniques. You will prepare quality data evaluation metrics to assure contractors performance is measurable and quantifiable. You will investigate and evaluate technical, procedural, and manufacturing process problems that occur during the design, construction, and testing of naval ships. You will provide technical quality assessment, guidance, and consultant services to technical and directorate managers and employees. You will lead and conduct audits on contractor products and processes in accordance with previously developed standardized procedures. You will be subject matter expert for ship fabrication and structure installation, familiarization with NDT processes. You will retrieve and analyze quality data to analyze trends, populate assessments, and support recommendations. You will prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information as required.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector leading quality assurance functions (e.g., contractor surveillance, audits, inspections, NDI testing, etc.) to support construction, repair or overhaul of ships or ship systems.
