About the Position: You will function as an Engineering Technician (Civil) performing civil engineering design and plan development responsibilities relating to planning, design, alteration, and/or relocations of structures utilities, roads, air fields, camps, railroads, levees, dams, embankment channel modifications, recreational areas and attendant facilities, and other earthwork activities for both Civil and military works.
Position can be filled at any grade level.
Duties
Develop preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood control, and emergency operation projects.
Prepare preliminary and final input to planning reports, design documentation reports, contract drawings, as-built drawings and manuals.
Create three-dimensional digital terrain models from survey data downloaded from data collectors or from digital surveys.
Provide on-site inspections to verify topographic, planimetric, and soil conditions, identify and delineate all unknown parameters; establish baseline for design refinement and relocation alternatives; prepare plans and inspection of final design.
Prepare portions of technical documents and technical specifications.
Perform technical and design assignments using CADD and civil engineering design software packages.

To qualify at the GS-0802-09 grade level:
Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes coordination of all drawings and CAD/BIM files for projects; developing and preparing cost estimates with oversight by engineers; performing quantity take offs and other cost estimating tasks at the direction and with oversight of engineers; and reviews cost estimates prepared by others for adherence to CAD/BIM standards.
To qualify at the GS-0802-10 grade level:
Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience which includes assisting with preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood control, military construction, and emergency operation projects; working from surveys, as built drawings, contract drawings, report drawings, digital terrain models, advanced 3-D surfaces, and templates, to determine cross-sectional areas and volumes for quantities; and performing technical and design assignments using CADD and civil engineering design software package. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
To qualify at the GS-0802-11 grade level:
Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience which includes developing preliminary and final details of drawings, and all or portions of design analysis for a variety of engineering features for navigation, flood control, military construction, and emergency operation projects; working from surveys, as built drawings, contract drawings, report drawings, digital terrain models, advanced 3-D surfaces, and templates, to determine cross-sectional areas and volumes for quantities; and performing technical and design assignments using CADD and civil engineering design software packages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10)
